Sorority Style: How Greek Life Is Embracing Clothing Swaps

By Jordan Reid · Community stories · December 30, 2025

Formals, date parties, recruitment, philanthropy events—Greek life means a lot of occasions that call for specific outfits. Buying new every time? Not anymore.

Chapter-wide swaps before big events. Host a swap the week before formal or recruitment. Sisters bring dresses, heels, and accessories they're done with; everyone leaves with something new-to-them.

Theme coordination made easy. When your date party has a theme, a shared closet is gold. Someone always has that sequin top or vintage jacket you need.

Big-little bonding. Passing down classic pieces to littles is a tradition. Apps like Besties Closet make it easy to track who has what and when to pass it along.

Sustainability as a value. Many chapters are making eco-friendly choices a priority. Sharing clothes is a visible, tangible way to walk the talk.

Build a chapter closet. Some houses have started official "chapter closets"—donated pieces any sister can borrow. It's like a mini thrift store, but free and hyper-local.

Greek life has always been about sisterhood. Now it can be about shared style, too.
